WHAT PEOPLE SAY

"Dale has been working with my son developing his technique, helping him with grade pieces and supporting his own choice of songs. A genuine and wonderful teacher who is patient, focused and extremely skilled. Lessons are very well structured and the studio is fantastic, well equipped with quality kits. A great experience all round for all aspiring drummers.”

HOW LESSONS WORK

I only teach one-to-one. It's just me here, and every lesson is built around you.

Lessons follow a learning system I've developed and refined over more than ten years. It's structured enough to guarantee progress and flexible enough to go wherever your playing wants to go. The material is available as a series of books from the studio.

I care a lot about what happens between lessons. At the end of every session you'll leave with a printed summary of what we covered and exactly what to practise. Emailed to you too.

Lessons can follow the learning system on its own, or alongside Trinity Rock & Pop grade books for anyone working towards exams.

The studio is also a registered Trinity digital exam centre, so if you do take a grade you'll sit it in the same room you've been learning in.

Parents and carers are welcome to sit in, or relax with a coffee in the waiting area.

WHO IT'S FOR

ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS

Never sat behind a kit before? Good. There's nothing better than that first lesson.

SELF-TAUGHT OR CHANGING TEACHERS
If your progress has stalled, come in. We'll work out why and get things moving.

EXPERIENCED DRUMMERS
Looking to refine your technique, overhaul your practice routine or set clearer goals. That's what these lessons are built around.

ADULT BEGINNERS
More adults start from scratch than you'd think. Lessons are relaxed, focused and built around actually enjoying the process.

ABOUT DALE

I’ve been playing drums since 1997, gigging since 2001 and teaching full-time since opening Tonbridge Drum Studio in 2017.

Teaching isn’t just a day job, it’s my passion. I love helping people discover what they’re capable of and seeing their confidence grow as their playing develops.

Outside of teaching, I spend a lot of time recording drums remotely for artists and producers. I also enjoy refurbishing and restoring old drums. If you visit the studio, you’ll usually see the back wall lined with various kits and ongoing restoration projects.

As a performer, I play live sessions for a variety of artists, but I’m particularly passionate about my solo project FROST, a hybrid drumming and electronic performance where I control drums, electronics, synchronised lighting and visuals live on stage.
